We chose Hackney Food bank because it is an organisation where we felt our contributions could make a significant difference within our community.
Our plan is not only to provide financial support to Hackney, but to get involved at a deeper level, which is why we will be going into the food bank as a team and donating our time in just a few weeks. We look forward to a long relationship with Hackney and the people it serves - Paul Williams, Head of International Business Development, Polen Capital
We are so eager to be a positive force in our local community.
As such, we are glad to hear we’ve had a good impact on the ground, and we’re grateful to you for all the work you constantly do, and for giving us a window to do our small part - Adam Rasmussen, Director of Daiwa Capital Markets Europe Ltd
Capco’s relationship with HFB spans several charitable areas, including fundraising.
As Capco’s fundraising lead , I have overseen the organization of fundraising events to provide much-needed monetary contributions to the food bank. In light of lockdowns preventing large gatherings, we were forced to be more creative with fundraising this year! We held events including a photography competition – asking participants to submit photos that reflected ‘A Snapshot of a British Summer’ - and a running/biking/swimming relay competition with our Scotland office, to name a few!
Opportunities with Hackney Foodbank have meant that I’ve worked with colleagues with vastly different skills and experiences which has provided me with a stronger and more diverse network.
HFB is extremely supportive and collaborative with our Capco London community and we look forward to growing our partnership in 2022 and beyond - Sam Longbottom-Smith, CAPCO
Before my experience at the food bank, I felt like I had nothing and nowhere to go. People might feel ashamed of asking for help when they’re struggling, but I feel proud that I did
I felt like I had nothing and nowhere to go - so I’m proud to still be using the food bank to help feed my family. The food bank also pointed me in the direction of local organisations that provide helpful financial advice. I never would’ve got that information if I hadn't visited.
“The service is very helpful for families with low income”
“I have small children and they need and like to eat fresh fruit and vegetables, which is not possible with the parcel.”
“with Face Donate I can go to the shop, pick what I need and pay with my phone: this makes me feel normal.”
“I can choose what I need for me and my son. Going to a food bank makes you feel inappropriate: with Face Donate I can go to the shop, pick what I need and pay with my phone: this makes me feel normal. Sharing the receipts is great, so people don’t fall in temptation. I hope the project continues and gets adopted by every food bank in the country."
As I walk through the door, everyone treats me with respect and it’s just a nice place to work and a nice environment to work in
I love the experience, I love the people and I love the vibe - Roger
It makes me feel more valued as a person
every time I go home after volunteering, I know I've helped somebody out (even though I do not know who). I know somebody’s life will be a bit easier because of my actions - Isaac
I’ve always valued how I can help people directly there’s a very obvious need and a direct solution
People need feed and people need food. Other volunteers are really nice, there’s special skillset required and it’s generally fairly relaxed at Hackney Foodbank - Kirsten
