Angel Comedy supports HAckney Foodbank at their annual street party 🎉

Angel Comedy has donated an amazing 552.4 KGs worth of food collected at their annual street party which was held on 7th May 2023. They also raised vital funds for both Hackney Foodbank and the Trussell Trust.

Angel Comedy has been supporting Hackney Foodbank since 2022 and after the success of their Christmas Food Drive, organised by Aisling Bea which brought in 1.3 tonnes of food donations to Hackney Foodbank, the team were delighted to receive their ongoing support. Hackney Foodbank is an independent charity and member of the Trussell Trust Network who are all fighting for a hunger-free future.

Barry Ferns, Co-Founder and Company Director said "Hackney Foodbank and The Trussell Trust - and all the volunteers  - do such important and great work, it's an honour to be able to support them, and work with them. At Angel Comedy we have always done free or affordable shows - and the provision for the disadvantaged in our society is a subject close to our hearts. We have huge thanks and gratitude for all the great work they do"

Pat Fitzsimons, CEO of Hackney Foodbank said: “We are so grateful for the support of Angel Comedy. We have been seeing an exponential rise in the number of people coming to access our services and supporting many people who are feeling the effects of the cost-of-living crisis. We are pleased to see the efforts made by Angel Comedy who have been so kind to support us and the Trussell Trust during these difficult times.”

Luca Dunne, Event Manager said: "Here at Angel Comedy we're so proud of the community we have created, who not only support our club day-to-day, but also support us in hosting these fundraisers and helping us to highlight the current demand for food banks in the UK. The Trussell Trust is working incredibly hard across the country campaigning for change to end the need for food banks and we look forward to working together again and giving back the generosity we have received ourselves"

Kate Palmer, Head of Booking "Combatting food poverty is an issue close to many of our hearts here at Angel and we want to help where we can. We're a community run venue who aim to provide affordable comedy to punters and also support comedians as best we can and it feels only natural that we should also be raising money and supplies for excellent organisations like the Trussell Trust and Hackney Foodbank. After the success of our last two events I hope we can continue to do more, raise more and spread the word"
